The Belgian one day race between Verviers and Soumagne was a mixed day for Saxo Bank II.
The bad news came at the beginning of the stage when Celio Nogueria fell off his bike and broke his collar bone for the second time this season. He had been the favourite to win the stage but failed to make the finishing line.
Jorgen Holten also crashed out at the same time but following a scan, it has been confirmed that he has sustained no injury. Out of the 16 riders left in the main field, Saxo Bank were looking depleted and on the verge of failing to come away with any result. However, a great ride by Cesário Montenegro saw him take thid on the podium. Arnfinn Enoksen took sixth and Robert Aasen took ninth. Overall not too disappointing as it boosts the bank account but it was anything but a perfect day when Team Saxo Bank II had held high hopes on taking first and second.
